December 2022 Newsletter

As we look forward to the end of this year and the beginning of a new one, we are thankful to still be able to provide quality coffees and consistent service to our customers.

We still have to operate within Australia Post's own Christmas cutoff shipping dates, which are listed below:

So, this year we will close on FRIDAY 16th December and reopen on MONDAY 9th January.

The usual stock rundown warning applies and we'll be filling the last minute orders with whatever coffees we have left.

The December Special coffee was last available 21 years ago, when it was strangely enough also our Christmas special. The ins and outs of the green coffee markets have really been weird for the last couple of years, and it's been difficult to predict exactly which coffees are available and when. Which makes us extremely happy to be able to once again present:

Sulawesi Kalossi

$64 Per Kilogram

Medium/Strong

A typical Indonesian heavy body, with soft front palate acidity and spicy flavour notes hinting at cloves, nutmeg and allspice. It has a long, sweet molasses aftertaste to finish.

For the espresso enthusiasts this coffee produces the thickest, richest crema of any Arabica coffee we have ever seen.

The green coffee market fluctuations have seriously affected the regular coffees on our list as well, and we've been battling to maintain consistent supplies all this year. There will be changes coming next year as we try to improve both the quality and supplies of our green coffees.

Some of our origins have been badly affected by adverse weather events and are simply no longer available. Others have taken an economic hit during the pandemic and simply stopped growing coffee and turned to other crops. We will have to completely revise our list of coffees during 2023, so please bear with us. We'll try to have a rundown of some of the changes and the reasons behind them in our first newsletter next year.

With a bit of luck we'll also be doing some website refreshing, tweaking a few bits and pieces over the break. It should be a bit brighter, with larger fonts and a touch more colour.
